Beulah Hester’s incredible professional story of the founding of her company,Ump Attire, has been recognized and featured locally and abroad:

  • 1997:  Beulah Hester was invited to speak at the Women in Business Conference in Lexington KY in the fall of 1997.  From this conference, her story caught the attention of the media and led to lots of publicity.  She was featured on 3 local Kentucky TV stations, featured in the Lexington Herald Leader Sunday magazine, and Made in KY featured a 30 minute TV program on KET that was broadcast in 3 states.  Beulah also received appreciation for support of Women in Business in October.  Beulah receives certificate award for participation in the University of College of Business and Economics. She speaks at the University of Kentucky Center of Entrepreneurship’s 5th Annual Women Mean Business conference.
  • 1998:  She was featured in the Lexington Herald Business Monday Magazine.  She had two ads published in The Athlete Magazine by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.  She was featured on the front cover with an full article in the July issue of Referee Magazine.  And on August 21, 1998, her company was featured in the Wall Street Journal, and in the September issue of Baseball Softball USA magazine.  She receives Made in Kentucky recognition award.  She speaks at community service events:  EKU’s Introduction to Integrated Marketing Communication and Wayne County Extension Office’s event, Developing or Expanding your Home-Based Business Market.
  • 1999:  featured in Lane Report; her ball bag was featured in the movie, “For Love of the Game”.  Beulah was awarded Stanford’s Woman of Achievement Award, and nominated as Kentucky State Women in Achievement.
  • 2004:  She spoke at Small Business Showcase at Capitol building in Frankfort, KY.
  • 2005:  October issue of Kentucky Living magazine about Beulah’s partnership with Trust for Life and Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates, and her daughter, Emilie, who passed away in 2003, who was an organ donor.
  • 2008:  Beulah Hester was featured in a book:  Kentucky’s Everyday Heroes: Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things; Kathy Moats wrote article for Small Business Development Center of Kentucky about Beulah Hester’s story.
  • 2010:  Beulah Hester has been invited by the World Affair Council to speak to a large audience of international participants from 46 countries for over 5 years.
  • 2012:  Ump Attire was named Kentucky Small Business success story of the year by the Kentucky Small Business Administration.
